Araghchi Says Iran’s Hormuz Proposal Remains on the Table if the US Meets Its Conditions
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz remains on the table, linking its implementation to the United States meeting Iran’s conditions.
According to his reported remarks, the strait could reopen within six days if Washington complies, with negotiations set to resume on the seventh day.
Araghchi stressed that Iran would continue to defend its people, sovereignty and legitimate interests, adding that these commitments do not conflict with the pursuit of peace.
In earlier remarks, the Iranian foreign minister said Iran had not traveled to New York to promote war, but to pursue peace. He also emphasized that Tehran was prepared to respond to any aggression, even if it led to a devastating war, while remaining open to genuine diplomacy.
The statements come amid regional tensions and continued uncertainty over the future of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important waterway for global trade and energy supplies.
